Price Protectr announces Price Protection for its Amazon buyers!
Sunday, August 31, 2008
Many who have bought through Amazon have used Amazon's Post-Order Price Guarantee. The guarantee allowed the user to get their money back on the difference of any Amazon price drop within 30 days of buying an item from Amazon.

Users bought with the confidence of getting the lowest Amazon price at the time of purchase and up to 30 days later, a confidence even more important in an economy where more and more people need ways to save money.

It has come to our attention that Amazon has ended their price protection guarantee. It appears that any items ordered as of today will no longer be eligible for price drop rebates at Amazon.

Price Protectr has always been a fan of Amazon (we're die-hard Amazon customers ourselves). Many thousands of Price Protectr user enjoy shopping there, and we lament the loss of this customer benefit.

In light of this development, Price Protectr has decided to accelerate the launch of a new service that will enable faithful Amazon customers to still enjoy the benefits of Amazon's great service while retaining the peace of mind that came from price protection.

Within 60 days, Price Protectr plans to offer price protection to Price Protectr users who shop at Amazon. Details will be announced, but here's the long and short of it: If you're a Price Protectr user who buys from Amazon through one of Price Protectr's services, you'll automatically receive a refund of some or all of the difference between the Amazon purchase price and the reduced Amazon price for a period of time after your purchase.

Please sign up for an account at Price Protectr, for the blog RSS feed, or for the Price Protectr fan page at Facebook, and be the first to know about the launch date.

Thanks, and long live Price Protection!

Wow, that really sucks. I've been a multi-year Amazon Prime member, and it's very frustrating to see them make this change.

We're sad to see it go. We encourage Amazon shoppers to use our Toolbar, Price Watching, Price Targeting, and Deals of the Day e-mail to offset the loss of their program. Stay tuned for our announcement!

I love your price protection for Amazon. Just wonder how you get it work with Amazon. I don't think Amazon will allow you or give you a way to do that.

I think you have a wonderful service as well but how do you plan to sponsor this new direction?

Okay, I've been waiting to see more information on your plan to offer this Amazon protection. You said within 60 days. It's now been nearly 90 days with no word, unless I missed it somehow. So what's the status?

After our announcement, Amazon contacted us and told us that if we went ahead with our plan, they would terminate our affiliate relationship. We're still in talks with representatives at Amazon to try to work something out -- we love Amazon and would like to find a way to work with them to continue to provide their amazing policy to our users. Since our service is free, we get a large percentage of our revenue from affiliate relationships -- so for the time being we've had to postpone our plan to reimplement the policy on our own. We haven't given up hope though, and I'll update the blog with any new developments.
